tough opening week from del mar. the track is playing every kind of funky as front runners are staggering home one day and other days closers just lope on by. anyway, here goes.
r1: something rushing. this one has underdelivered on his promise, but should get a decent pace to chase up front with three speed types signed on. kdesormeux fits him well and he's coming off a nice win at churchill downs for the glenneys. at 6/1 or so, he's good value.
r3: fierce knight. backing desormeaux again in here. i've bet we all loves aleyna twice now and i've officially abandoned ship although i remain slightly afraid of her putting it together to run a good race. 'knight has great win early breedding and should be right on the pace from the get go. with a work over the track, all systems should be go.
r6: nazareen: this is a very very competitive maiden special. cigar's little sis, life's pleasures should go better in here and joyful ballad looks like the goods with the coveted two sprint prep for this stretchout. i will, however, back nazareen, who is by champion holy bull out of the very talented racemare, zoonaqua, who won a couple races at del mar a few years ago. nazareen just missed in her last but i think we get a price in here today as several of these should take money. the 6f work last tuesday seals the deal for me.
r8: ramekin. i know this one's form looks awful, but this is a very weak field, even for this level. rameking comes off the claim for sherman and worked well over the racetrack last week. i don't see much else to beat in here and we should get at least the m/l price of 4/1.
good luck.
